Revolve went easy on the tricks this year and focused instead on a day full of treats! With a potluck, pumpkin carving contest, costumes and a good cause, we celebrated Halloween in a big way.
Revolvers were given their own pumpkins to decorate using the furthest reaches of their imagination and any supplies they could get their hands on. We saw Optimus Prime, a giant spider and a piñata pumpkin, but the big winner was the Cinderella’s carriage pumpkin by Diane. Even though the clock had struck midnight and the carriage had turned back into a pumpkin, it was still beautiful.
The pumpkin carving contest was a great success but we didn’t leave it at that. We love Halloween so much we also organized a costume contest and potluck lunch, where Revolvers had to match their costume to their dish. We had an alien bring in homemade Mars Bars, a devil bring in deviled eggs and – the winner – a crazy cat lady who brought in a “kitty litter” dessert (which was gross to look at, but delicious to eat). Congrats to Christina for her creativity.
And throughout our celebration of this wicked holiday, we also wanted to do something good. So in the week before Halloween, we asked Revolvers to bring in canned goods to donate to Feed Nova Scotia and they did not disappoint. We collected nearly 100 cans to help provide meals to Nova Scotians in need. Thanks to everyone for making it a delicious and happy Halloween!
