Town of Kentville
The Town of Kentville, Nova Scotia was in search of a clear and differentiating place brand. The desire was to uncover Kentville’s unique point of difference – what is the one thing that makes this place so special?
To accomplish this, the town engaged key stakeholders and community leaders, as well as nearly 500 residents and business owners, in conversations and research. The best possible scenario occurred: everyone reached consensus on what makes Kentville special and what everyone wants for the community’s future.

Public engagement revealed a place where wholesome family values still matter. In Kentville, health and well-being are prioritized, getting outside is the pastime of choice, small business charm and convenience is preferred over big-box domination and coming together is a way of life. Ultimately, Kentville is the kind of place where healthy people can gather and grow.

Once consensus was reached, Revolve put its proprietary Brand DNA process to work to find a compelling and distinct way to communicate this point of difference. The best brands for places are both a promise and a call to action that compels residents, business owners and visitors. To accomplish this, Revolve defined Kentville’s brand personality, benefits, values, mission, vision, purpose and the all-important public-facing brand promise. Kentville’s new brand promise, A breath of fresh air, is a rallying cry. It articulates the town’s uniqueness, enabling members of the community to easily deliver on what makes Kentville special and informs visitors that they’ll have one-of-a-kind experiences.

A breath of fresh air is both literal and figurative. It speaks to Kentville’s love of the outdoors as well as its unique ideas and offerings. It invites fresh businesses and services to make their home in Kentville. It is a call to action for town council to make life-improving decisions that deliver a breath of fresh air. And it’s a nod to the wholesome family values everyone in Kentville holds dear.
Kentville’s new Brand Strategy gives the town the tools to become a place where healthy people gather and grow. It articulates the strength of Kentville’s past and the community it is today, and it encourages all stakeholders to create the best version of Kentville for the future.
As well as authoring Kentville’s Brand Strategy, Revolve created an identity system complete with a new logo and activity icons. We also created a brand guidelines document, trail and street signs, stationery, vehicle graphics, ad templates, infographics, roadside signage and branded lifestyle photography.
